Founded by Mahendran Balachandran and Sangeeta Prabhu Mahendran, Towards Equal is a Private Foundation with a profound commitment to creating a more equitable world.
saranam India is proud to partner with Towards Equal Foundation in our journey of relieving serious health-related suffering by enabling access to integrated palliative care for those with chronic and life limiting conditions, the elderly, and the disadvantaged.
Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology
Saranam works in partnership with the health systems in Karnataka to create networks of access to palliative and end of life care, addressing different life limiting illnesses including cancer and neuro-degenerative diseases. Saranam also works to address the ability for family members and care-givers to cope with the challenges of such suffering. The Kidwai Institute is Karnataka’s Regional Cancer Centre, and saranam plays a critical role in directly reducing caregiver and patient burden, as well as reducing the Out of Pocket Expenditure (OOPE). We have partnered with Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology to establish an operational model with full-fledged multi-disciplinary team providing palliative home-care for its Cancer patients.
Department of Health & Family Welfare

saranam India has a 3 year MOU with K C General Hospital, Bengaluru to establish a Palliative Medicine Department including an Out-Patient Department, a Day-Care/In-Patient Palliative Care Ward, and a Home-Care Network within a 5km radius of the hospital. KC General Hospital is a long established government secondary/tertiary care hospital with over 550 Beds and offers multi-speciality clinical services.
